Whether your vessel is motor, wind or man powered, the Blackwater Pyrates -- in conjunction with the US Coast Guard Auxiliary – is sponsoring a free vessel safety check to the public at Carpenter’s Park and Russell Harbor boat landings in Milton May 17th from 8:00 – 12:00.
Vessels passing the inspection will receive a one-year decal for the vessel acknowledging the pass. The decal indicates to maritime law officers that the vessel conforms to minimum required safety regulations and thus avoiding a possible stop on the water for a safety check.
As this is not a law enforcement inspection, vessels not passing will be given a checklist of deficiencies, but not a citation. Within reason and available resources, deficiencies will be corrected free of charge by the Blackwater Pyrates on the spot.
Following the Inspections join the Pyrates for the Blessing Of The Fleet at Memorial Park Boardwalk @ 1:00 PM.
Then we’ll finish off the month with a Free Safe Boating class over 2 nights, May 19th and 20th from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Successful completion earns you the Florida Boating Safety Card. See attached flyer.
